The new global Terawatt PV 100 ranking, released by analytics company Terawatt PV Research, identified the top 100 solar power manufacturers worldwide. Based on the results for the first quarter of 2026, Tongwei emerged as the clear leader.
This study has become one of the most comprehensive assessments of the industry, as it takes into account not only production volume but also the financial stability and level of corporate transparency of companies.
How the Terawatt PV 100 rating was formed
The Terawatt PV 100 ranking covers the entire solar energy production ecosystem, from raw material suppliers to module and equipment manufacturers.
Companies were assessed based on three key criteria:
- Production scale
- Financial stability
- Corporate transparency
For the first time in the industry, the entire PV industry was considered as a single market (TAM), where the following compete simultaneously:
- Component manufacturers (polysilicon, wafers, cells, modules)
- Material suppliers
- Equipment manufacturers
Companies are ranked not only by absolute indicators but also by their position in individual segments (SAM), where market share plays a key role.
For objectivity, the results were normalized using a Z-score analysis, allowing for comparison of companies taking into account market cycles since 2020.
