Green tariff 2026: new rates for solar power plants in Ukraine

The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission of Ukraine (NEURC) has approved updated “green tariff” rates effective from April 1, 2026. The changes were introduced through Resolutions No. 497 and No. 498 dated March 31, 2026. For solar power plant owners, this means updated compensation rates for electricity generated from renewable energy sources.

For residential solar power plants up to 30 kW commissioned in 2026, the feed-in tariff is set at 603.86 kopecks/kWh excluding VAT, which is approximately UAH 7.25/kWh including VAT. The official information is available on the NEURC website and in the published resolutions.

At the same time, the solar energy market in Ukraine continues to evolve. A few years ago, most customers viewed solar power plants primarily as a way to generate income through the feed-in tariff. Today, the focus is increasingly shifting toward energy independence, backup power solutions, and reducing electricity costs. This trend is especially noticeable among businesses investing in hybrid solar systems and energy storage systems (ESS).

That is why modern solar power plants are now designed not only for selling electricity back to the grid, but also as integrated energy solutions. Hybrid inverters, battery storage systems, and backup power capabilities help maintain stable operation even during grid outages.

Despite the updated rates, the green tariff remains relevant in 2026 for both residential and commercial solar projects. However, when planning a solar power plant today, it is important to consider not only the tariff itself, but also energy consumption patterns, storage capacity, and autonomous operation.
